World Vision Mongolia is carrying out the “Ever Rich Forest” project in Alag-Erdene soum of Khuvsgul province from October 2024 to September 2025. The project aims to improve the livelihoods of 50 vulnerable households through sustainable forest and land management while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions — one of the main drivers of climate change.

Project participants are attending capacity-building trainings on nursery management, agroforestry, and crop production, delivered in a blended format through classroom instruction and hands-on practice in a 120 m² summer greenhouse. They have planted various fruit and ornamental tree saplings in their yards, including sea buckthorn, black currant, and hawthorn. This not only improves the living environment for families and children but also creates long-term potential for meeting household fruit needs.

To reduce dust and greenhouse gas emissions, over 400 local residents have planted a total of 3,700 coniferous and deciduous tree saplings across a 2.2-hectare area. In addition to irrigating this greenbelt, a deep well is being drilled to supply drinking water, which will benefit not only project participants but also improve water access for the entire soum population.

Funded by World Vision Hong Kong, the project is being implemented in collaboration with local government agencies including the Khuvsgul Provincial Department of Environment, the Department of Food and Agriculture, the Delgermurun Forest Unit, the Alag-Erdene soum Governor’s Office, general education schools, as well as local citizens and businesses.
