  • Results after two years of implementation of the Sexual Violence Against Children project

Results after two years of implementation of the Sexual Violence Against Children project funded by the European Union:

At a public level the Time’s Up for Sexual Violence Against Children in Mongolia project worked closely with parents, care givers, and duty bearers to change their overall mindset towards child related issues with the aim to prevent children from becoming victim to sexual violence.

It is estimated that approximately 30% of Mongolia’s total population is children under the age of 18. According to the project baseline study conducted in 2020, 614 cases of sexual exploitation among children have been officially reported that year. During the project implementation period World Vision in partnership with Beautiful Hearts NGO has organized national “I promise” campaign to reduce children’s sexual exploitation cases by publically providing information regarding where and how to get help, and educating parents on children’s safety and prevention mechanisms. To ensure the long-term sustainability of the project interventions, 43 civil society organizations participated in the project and went through extensive trainings to improve their capacity on child protection mechanisms, raising public awareness, and advocating unitedly towards policy improvements and reforms. As a result of the project interventions the project end evaluation showed 12.1% decrease in children’s sexual violence cases compared to the baseline.
